New Study Masks Don’t Stop Infection!

student masking

A New study in the Lancet's Microbe journal suggests people who are non-symptomatic rarely have the ability to infect others with COVID-19.[1]

School Districts Were Wrong

Many parents were outraged as school districts across the country mandated masks long after it was clear that masking was ineffective and detrimental to the health and education of their children. Countless board meetings were filled with parents quoting data, studies, and common sense facts but to no avail. Board members sat stone faced or worse yet retaliated against parents, even doxing those who would question their decisions. Parents pleaded with the school boards to be courageous and stop their irrational compliance with state policies, many of which were illegal. School Boards and School Administrations were wrong!

Has there been any recognition of their mistakes? Have they publicly apologized? Have they taken steps to ensure that such violations of health and civil liberties do not happen again? Unfortunately, almost none have acknowledged their wrong behavior. Instead, there is the constant refrain, 'We were just following orders.'

It is imperative we take steps, now, to ensure that this does not happen again!

Another study from the prestigious journal, The Lancet, undercuts one of the primary arguments for masking asymptomatic children.

Lancet Study - Masks Don't Stop Infection

This study contradicts the "silent spreader" narrative that has been used to push for universal masking, including among schoolchildren. The study shows that people who are sick with COVID-19 but don't show any symptoms have a limited ability to spread the virus to other people. The study was carried out by researchers at Imperial College London, and participants were unvaccinated healthy adults aged 18-30 who were intentionally infected with COVID-19.

This study is significant because it challenges the narrative that has been used to justify the imposition of mask mandates and other restrictions on personal freedoms. It is important to note that the study was carried out on a small sample size of healthy young adults, so further research is needed to confirm these findings. However, the study provides evidence that the risk of transmission from asymptomatic individuals may be lower than previously thought.

Parental Rights

Parents should have the right to make decisions about their children's health and well-being. The government should not be able to mandate medical interventions, such as masks or vaccines, without the consent of parents. This study provides evidence that the risk of transmission from asymptomatic individuals may be lower than previously thought, which should be taken into consideration when making decisions about mask mandates in schools. Parents should have the right to decide whether or not their children wear masks in school, based on their own assessment of the risks and benefits.

Futile Masking

Schools throughout the country mandated masking of children during COVID under the false premise that it would stop the spread of the virus. These measures have proved to be futile for stopping a virus and incredibly destructive to children’s development. Masks don't stop infection! Masking negatively affects learning and causes significant social and emotional harm[1]. Children need to see their teachers' and classmates' facial expressions to learn and develop social skills. Masks make it difficult for children to communicate and understand each other, leading to a lack of engagement and participation in class. Moreover, masks can cause anxiety and stress, leading to a negative impact on children's mental health.

COVID 2.0 Preparations

As rumblings of new COVID strains and new mask mandates emerge, schools must develop policies that are based in actual science and in compliance with parental wishes.  School boards have tremendous power and may need to push back against ridiculous mandates from the state.  Parents groups and school boards may need to work together to stand against state over reach.

In conclusion, the Lancet study provides evidence that people who are non-symptomatic rarely have the ability to infect others with COVID-19. This challenges the narrative that has been used to justify mask mandates and other restrictions on personal freedoms. Parents should have the right to make decisions about their children's health and well-being, and this study should be taken into consideration when making decisions about mask mandates in schools.

TAKE ACTION

What can you do to ensure that this will not happen again?

  1. Resolution of Wrongdoing - Push for your school to pass a resolution acknowledging their mistakes, wrong doing, and harm that they cause. Do not accept the argument, 'I was just following orders'. School leadership could have and should have stood against the over reach of county, state, and national governments who pushed these draconian measures.

  2. Policy - Encourage your school to enact policies that adhere to actual science, not hysterical propaganda and policies that respect the bodily autonomy of students and rights of parents. Work with existing leaders to get them on public record committing to these common sense measures. And if unavailable, seek to find new leaders who will stand for what is healthy, good, and right.

  3. Gather - You cannot do this alone. If we learned one thing during the previous struggle, it is that when parents gather and organize they are a powerful force for change. Join a local parents group. If you cannot find one or would like some additional resources contact us at GSI.
